Tips & Guides

Practical advice from our workshop.

Swing gate or sliding gate?

Swing gates are simpler and usually cheaper, but need clear space for the leaves to open. Sliding gates suit tight driveways because they travel along the wall, but need a straight run beside the opening and a track or rail. Tell us your space and we will recommend the better fit.

Galvanised steel vs mild steel

Galvanised steel has a zinc coating that resists rust, which helps in humid and rainy conditions. Mild steel is strong and easy to shape, and lasts well when it is properly primed and painted. Either way, protecting welds and cut edges is what keeps metalwork looking good.

How to measure for a quote

Measure the width and height of the opening at the narrowest points, note any slope in the ground, and take a clear photo of the area. Send these to us on WhatsApp and we can quote much faster.

Keeping metalwork looking new

Wash dust and salt off with water and mild soap, touch up chipped paint quickly before rust spreads, and oil hinges and rollers regularly. Check welds and fixings once a year.
